I got sick of being followed by morons who refused to dip their lights, especially those who would sit on your tail with no intention of overtaking.

So eventually I bolted a 50W foglight (white, threw a wide powerful beam, had used it on my RD350 bike as a low-beam for a year) on the right end of my 12V 66 Kombi's back bumper, to shine directly back at the following driver (RHD, remember). I had a switch on the steering column. Worked really well as a reversing light!

One night a twit in an Accord came up behind me and sat for many km with high beam going. No amount of flashing the brakelights got the message across, so I switched the fog on. There's no way he could have seen anything else than this light after that, yet he remained stuck to my tail at 60-70mph for a long while after that! Maybe he was using me as a cop-shield, as the speed limit was 80kmh (50mph) at the time, back in 1987 or so.

Some people...

I will probably mount a set of small high-intensity QHs as extra reversing lights on the Caravelle eventually.
