Subject: '84 GL NOT in the woods!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hello,

Identified the rotted section of 1-1/4" feedpipe. I cut out the rotted section - about 12" of pipe from 2" beyond the engine compartment forward - clamped on the new piece of hose, started it up & it leaked like a sieve from the short 4" section that was left in the engine compartment. A short trip to my father-in-laws produced a piece of pipe 1-1/4" in diameter and 6" long - perfect! Clamped it in place, started it up...viola! no leaks. Drove it 4 miles to the in-laws, had supper, then drove it home in the dark and rain.

When I had the wipers going I turned on the rear heater & it blew the fuse. Lost my wipers so I pulled over & replaced the fuse. It had an 8 in it. I remember there being higher amperage fuses, so I'll need to get some. Does anyone know off-hand what amp fuse should be in the wiper/blower fuse holder? I have the owners manual, well, the cover actually. The mice ate out the whole inside leaving just the staples. Is it possible to get a new/used owners manual for an '84 GL? Does anyone have it scanned so that I might have a copy with which to figure some things out? What I really need are the fuse & light bulb charts. I still haven't purchased a Bentley's, but will be doing so soon.

Also, are the valve clearences set hot and still at .006"

Thanks for the info.

Later,

Michael
