Subject: tranny ques?
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed
hey all,
when my van is cold it is difficult to get it into 2nd gear and sometimes
third. i will shift from first and have to pause in nuetral and then pull
it into second with a lot of pressure and this results in the gear grinding
a little. i try not to force it but sometimes i have no choice. the
samething happens once in a while going into third gear. however, once the
van has been driving for a while it shifts fine and only seldom will it
grind going from second to third or first to second. also, it never pops
out of gear at any speed and never has a problem going into fourth. is this
the tranny going bad? the clutch? or could this be the linkage (please
explain how the linkage works and what maintainance can be done). if it is
linkage do i need a new tranny or can this be fixed? i am going to drain
fluid and put in redline to see if this helps. please get back to me with
any inputs on this. i am going to drive xcountry in march, what can i
expect from this condition?
thanks
jason
