To remove this uncertainty, I would connect a mechanical pressure gauge, which is known to be good, directly to the oil pressure port. Then, the oil pressure at various engine speeds and temperatures can be read with some level of confidence. Should you have to buy a gauge, I would recommend to shy away from the cheap gauges from the Pacific Rim because they bring a level of uncertainty with them.
