Terry, Where are you going again??? Is this the kind of trip you hope the mosquitoes arn't out yet??? :) Point and shoot - I have a Canon Rebel G with a 28-200 Tamron lens. You can be pretty brain-dead when it taking a picture - just point and click - very simple or you can play with the manual settings 'till your hearts content. The Tamrom 28-200mm lens is great for the wide angle shot or taking in that extreme zoom. "Stock" the camera comes with a 35-80 lens which is pretty good for all around camera stuff. Your Vanagon should be able to handle 200lbs on the roof assuming you arn't driving at the same time. I weigh in at 160 and have been on the roof with three 25L gas cans which is easily over 250lbs - not a problem at all.

Fellow Vanagonites, In a couple of months time, I am participating in an unusual---fun type camping trip, at Naked City, in Roselawn Indiana, and am seeking some advise from the list and anyone within the list who has photographic and/or camera knowledge. I am looking for a good point and shoot camera, and was looking at a Pentax IQ zoom 200. Good? Bad? And does anyone know if the roof of my Vanagon will support my 200 lbs. and the camera? (I would like to get some good panoramic shots, and some good close-ups ) Advise would be apperciated as always. Later, ______________ |[ ] [ ] [ ]\ | | | | ||-(())----(())-| Terry 85 GL |
