The LD28, like the Golf, is a nondiesel modified to run diesel. It does have an iron head, but its replacement (RD28) is alloy-head, and plagued with problems. Warping head, bore-wear, crank...the RD in my Skyline had 68 000km on it and started to use 8 liters of oil on a 365km trip. Its oil light would flicker at idle. The only good part was the head (on mine, anyway). I have been told the RD is a good one to stay clear of, as all are shot by 70k. DON'T turbo one!!
