OK..the VW TD..thicker deck on the block, bigger piston pins, thicker piston crown, oil squirters for the underside of the pistons, different alloy in the head, valves and valve seats........ One of the ways that the "aftermarket" got away with putting a turbo on the rabbit was that you RARELY used the power and then only for short intervals..have run a TD vanagon i can tell you that unless you are runnning your rabbit at 100mph up a hill you will NEVER load the engine like a short trip at the speed limit in a westy.. So..go head and drop a turbo on the NA diesel....it will last, oh I dunno..1/3 as long as the proper engine..(which, in itself, didn't win any awards in the van) the Quantum engine with turbo is the one that is the LEAST trouble to install and you CAN buy the remainer of the bits from europe to make it a "factory" installation.. good luck! steve "Hey! nice Jeep, Mister!
