I was involved w/ importing vehicles for my personal use in the late 80's, the 90's, and most recently in December 2000. The legal hoops you have to jump through have gotten smaller each decade. You can still walk around a few. However, in my experience, a tag declaring conformity can help but just isn't enough. Getting them to the US is easy. Keeping and licensing it here is the tough part.
