The 1.8bar switch is used on non-hydraulic inline 4 engines. 1.8bar = 25.3 psi. The Vanagon engine when warm will not reliably and quickly reach this pressure at 2500rpm. The 1.8bar switch will cause nuisance activation of the buzzer. Especially after highway speeds. This switch is incorrectly called for in the VW parts fiche. The .9 bar switch is the correct one. I wonder haw many engines have been changed for know reason due to this error and confusion. I know one person that the dealer changed his engine 3 times before I set them straight.

I would go with your information . . . if it were true. The pressure switch which is so well hidden under all that nasty engine tin has a setpoint of 0.3 bar. Not only does the Bentley show this as such, but it has proven to be the case with the several I have replaced. The dymanic oil pressure switch mounted near the base of the oil cooler, is noted as a 0.9 bar type in the Bentley and the one I removed is rated at 0.9 bar. My question is: Has the 0.9 bar oil pressure switch been superceded by one rated at1.8 bar for some good reason?
