The only time I ever used synth oil, my engine went TU within 5000 miles. Probably coincidence, but I briefly put it once in a new 2.0 I built for a bus once, and it sounded so rattley that I put my beloved Castrol 20/50 back in. Oh, the oil was amsoil though, which I have heard since that is very crappy oil due to it's being ester based.
