I have seen it in the engine I pulled the rods out of, the bearing wear
starts at one edge and slowly moves across the surface.


On one engine, all the rod bearings showed the same pattern. On the two
center rods the wear was worse.  One side was worn off and the second layer
of the bearing was showing.
