Subject: ECU
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Following Darrell's advise, I beat my ECU against the garage floor. The van then started and ran well for a couple of hours.

This morning it started and died and would not restart.

My ECU is labeled BOSCH 0 261 200 284, DIGIFANT I, DF1, 025 906 022 D.

I was told that this is for the 89 and newer Vanagons and is not interchangable with the 86 (Which I have).

Do any of you know which ECUs will work in an 86. Is there really a difference?

Thanks
