I use the oil cap, unscrew it most of the way and then pull out the rim... no chewies ! ;0)

I noticed it when I first got the van, I could see the double rim. However, I find it won't usually come out by hand. Always takes a pair of pliers to pull it out. And I don't usually have them handy when adding oil..
