Sam, The question to be asking is why did your rocker arm break!?!?

I hear a lot of problems on this list, but something forced that rocker arm in a way to cause it to break. How's your timing? I'd pull the head just because of the forces put on the rocker arm. I'd just call around. If you can do that work yourself, I call around and see who will re-install your valve spring at a shop for under $10. ($5 really, with the right tool, it's a 30 sec job.) That is, of course, if your head is salvagable. I guess you could replace it but throwing compressed air into your spark pug hole, but you'll need a special tool to compress the springs. Found out why my '87 was making a horrendous banging sound: the rocker arm for cylinder 2's exhaust valve broke at the screw hole. Removing the rocker arm assembly was impossible, as the broken arm's jagged end caught on the valve guide/spring. As gentle persuasion didn't loosen the arm, I resorted to tapping the pushrod end. This finally loosened the arm, and subsequently the valve springs went poioioioing out of the head. The valve guide is also sticking out of the head.
