Didn't Ron Lussier (Coyote) encounter this problem on the TDF trip? I seem to recall a post of his to the Caravana Americana site in which he kept breaking -- I *think* -- his alternator bracket. He was unable to diagnose the cause, and it's failure eventually set up a stream of events that led to his withdrawal from the trip (something along the lines of alt. bracket breaks, belt slips/breaks, waterpump stops, engine has big issues).

I don't know if Ron has since worked the problem out. I was under the impression that breaking alt. brackets was kind of an odd ball unusual thing as well.

Ron? Any further info, or do I have the whole thing wrong?

T.
