Subject: Re: 1985 Vanagon fuel overflow?
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

My 85 GL has always like to spill out gas when I fill it up. I don't know why it does it, but I just watch the pump and fill more slowly when it starts to get filled up. It has never spilled out gallons, but it splashes a bit out if I leave the gas pump on fully till it shuts off by itself. Kim

Hello, I'm new to the list and new to Vanagons... Being a lifelong >air-cooled guy I have a few things to learn. I recently experienced major >fuel spillage when fueling my Vanagon. It seems that when the tank got >full >and "burped", kicking the pump off, a couple (?) of gallons of gas spilled >on the ground underneath the fuel tank. I looked under the van and the >fuel >appeared to be coming from above the tank...anybody experience this? Any >ideas before I pull the tank and begin diagnosis the hard way?
