I simply wired mine into the reverse wiring, seems to me that's the only time one might use it.. of course if you were just wanting to light an area you could still keep it in reverse with the engine off! As far as foglights i created a 'Euro' fog light by hot glueing a red lens to a low profile fog light and mounted it to the lower driver side bumper, this is wired into my rear lights, so it's on whenever the lights are on. Usually unneedsd but it looks pretty cool.
