<P>hi Calle, and listees. </P>
<P>What a great engine the Volvo is. I had a '84 b21 with single carby, which isn't the most powerful engine in the world, but it's built like a ship engine. After nearly 300km, mine still sounded beautiful. I hope it fits.</P>

<DIV></DIV>>Hi !
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>Now the shit really hit the fan or rather the oil hit the ground so now Iīm really going to customize my Vanagon!
<DIV></DIV>>Well, NOW, Iīll have to save up some money first but since last week when I had a major oil spill and drove on for about two miles before the alarm went off ( yes, I walked back and checked ) the Vanagon is permanently parked out in the snow :-P
<DIV></DIV>>Iīve been checking around a bit and the cheapest / most economical alternative seems to be a conversion kit to install a Volvo engine !
<DIV></DIV>>I was thinking of a Diesel or Subaru engine too but the Diesel is SOOOOOO slow ( OK, I havenīt been driving a Vanagon diesel but a Rabbit with the same engine and with half the weight and better aerodynamics I found that one boring !) and there doesn't seem to be anyone that supplies any Subie kit here plus TONS of old Volvo engines on every wreckyard so I think thatīs going to be my choice.
<DIV></DIV>>Another bonus is that itīll pass emissions control with a carburettor so bye- bye digifant trouble :-)
<DIV></DIV>>112hp / 170 NM with a single carb and lots of tuneup potential >:->
<DIV></DIV>>The bolt on kit with all the paperwork is about 700 US$ and a wreckyard engine in good shape about 150 $ compared to a wreckyard wasserboxer for 1000 $ or a 2500 $ rebuild :(
<DIV></DIV>>Any comment on the choice will be appreciated !
