I'm in the market for a new transmission for my 87 2WD. An option I'd like to look into is installing a Syncro transmission with a locking rear differential. Has anyone tried this or have any info? Any aftermarket locker kits for a standard 091/1 2WD? If I end up deciding on a Syncro transmission I'd be looking for a rebuildable unit, not necessarily running. In a Syncro the engine sits about 2" lower than in a 2WD, is this a function of the transmission, mounting brackets or the body? dave www.251.org 87 Vanagon 61 Microbus |
