Hello Everyone! I am a lifetime lurker here on the list, but I took the winter off to straighten out some problems. Now its time to think spring and summer. I found a pop-up camper that I like, and I think its small enough to let my air-cooled 81 Vanagon pull it around, or at least I am gonna find out. Trailer weighs 990 lbs empty with a GVW of 1300, so I think if I am careful, I can stop with that attached...... Anyway, I have already asked more than once if this is doable, and now I am gonna find out. I searched the archives and the vendors for hitches, and came up with only one from Go-Westy @ $179. Ouch. I don't understand class A B C but I expect that the smallest class would work. I recall the type which attaches to the eyelets under the rear bumper, so I am thinking something like that should be less than $179. Am I wrong there? Is anyone using one of these types, can anyone recommend a source for one? Do places like U-haul sell hitches for these venerable old Vanagons? I'd rather give my money to a vendor on the list it there is a source. Looking forward to hitting the road a bit more this summer, so I hope I can make this work :) I was also wondering it there are kits for assembling the connector for the light and such? Very much appreciative of any ideas or assistance. Best Regards from Utah, John |
