Bob, Congratulations on your purchase. Here's a partial answer to your questions: Con-ferr makes a several racks in various lengths and widths. I'm sure you can arrange for them to semi-custom build one for you. Go to my homepage links at Vanagon Cafe links I have links set-up near the bottom to several rack manufacturers including Con-Ferr. On the tank overflowing: That's a fairly common problem for older Vanagons. The grommets at the top of the tank are probably all dried out, or any of the many hoses and T-connectors. The easiest route IMO is to go to VanAgain's site and order Ken's hose kit. There is a link in the same page for him. Hopefully that's all it is and not a rusty hole. I'm sure the PO knew about this problem since it would happen everytime you filled up with gas. I don't know if anyone making a parcel tray underdash like the old vans but a few of the vendors a have listed in the links like GoWesty sells a plastic console for the dash. Aftermarket seat swivels are available again from several list vendors. If you want the real thing, find one from a wrecked Westy. There are 3 pieces which you need to remove. Pmail me if you want additional details on this. Drips on coolant "...hanging from the block..." is certainly a sign of a headgasket problem. You may want to check the archives on this since it would take to much room to discuss here. BenT San Francisco |
