Subject: '85 Vanagon - basic stuff to have?
Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

Hi gang,

We did it, we bought the '85 Vanagon (Multi/Kombi - whatever you call it when it pops up, sleeps 4 and has the table but no kitchen) Westy! It's visiting our mechanic now for a post-purchase what-needs-doing report (and the rear brakes did need doing so we're doing that now). As soon as we have it back, I'll take photos and make a web page so everyone can see our new baby :)

I just went to Bus Depot and ordered both the Haynes and the Bentley books.

What else do I need? I'm not asking anyone to guess what might need fixing on the van, I'm wondering what's basic and needed for any Vanagon. Many of you carry fire extinguishers, right? And some basic set of tools and parts for just-in-case? That's the type of list I'm looking for.

Thanks a lot!!

:) Liz
