well ... this time the tornados ALMOST got me. :) closer, but still no cigar. but the high winds did manage to drop a 2-foot diameter pine tree (them things is all over the place!) across my power/phone/cable lines, and when the morons from Asplundt (the contractor who cuts trees for the Alabama Power Company) made it out last night about midnight, they managed to screw it up and drop the tree to the ground without bothering to check anything ... so guess what? ALL the wires going to the house got ripped right off the house, including the power meter and the breaker box. :(

and now the power company says they can't come reconnect until *I* get a meter box back up. so there's more cost because of the morons from Asplundt.

anyway, i've got NO heat, NO power, melting things in the fridge, NO phone ... which all means NO computer/internet access (i'm at work. where i may sleep tonight!! at least, it's got heat!).

life is fun. :)

unca joel
