Subject: coolant hoses
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi, all. Just to let all you guys that have 86-91 automatics, to be aware of a problem I have encountered myself this weekend. I ordered a coolant hose that connects to the coolant distributor and the pipe that goes to the radiator. But here's the catch: all cooling system diagrams that I've seen show this hose as N 902 873 03, but this is incorrect for automatics. You see, the correct hose is a 'T' that also goes to the transmission oil-cooler, and that number is not shown on any of the 3 different diagrams that I've printed. I ordered the hose for my van, and it won't work. So I went to a local VW parts store, where I know the guy that works the counter, and using the microfiche viewer, and looking at a hose on a friend's van, I have the correct number, wich is 251 121 104, so be sure to check directly on the hose for the correct number whenever you can, and if the vendors would be so kind as to correct this on their on-line diagrams, this could avoid returns and downtime (mine is going to take a short forced vacation due to this mistake) that hopefully can be avoided. Thank you for your time.
