Hold on,

Don't use the torch on stuff, can't imagine how you would do it properly in a van...

Instead use the self- adhesive membrane made by EMCO - "Progard"

Plastizied asphalt with a plyethlyene membrane on onedie and adhesive on the other.

I used it on my van last summer (posted info in archives).
