Hi,

I'm new to this particular list but have been on several high-volume e- mail lists for years, and admin a couple of them. So I'll risk being the newbie jerk and respond to the OT thread with what has worked for some of those lists in the hope that the list admin is watching this thread and might implement some of this:

1. As in my subject line, when posting non-Vanagon content, a standard part of the subject can be (NVC) for "No Vanagon Content" - people who don't want to read that stuff can filter it out automatically - just about every email program out there supports such filtering. This doesn't address having to download the extra email though which is of particular concern to our European members who often have to pay for phone time (thus online time) by the minute.

2. Since this list is pretty high-volume, a better solution might be to create a second list for Vanagon people to share non-Vanagon content with each other. Since we have this thing in common (love of a Vanagon) we may enjoy talking about other things with each other occasionally. One of my other lists created a second "talk" list for off- topic postings. Easy enough to do a free one at yahoogroups (formerly egroups) if this list owner doesn't want the headache of admin'ing another list. This would keep off topic posts out of the main archive as well as everyon'es mailbox if they choose not to subscribe. I think this may be the best way to go.

Now if you read this far, here's some Vangaon content - a link to our Vanagon pics. I added some more over the weekend, including some with the top up, a close up of the engine and more interior shots:
