I have my exhaust routed forward at first on my conversion. It leaves the engine bay on the driver's side goes forward past the frame member comes into a large first muffler then turns back toward the passenger's side and comes to a second muffler under the small cavity behind the wheel. This system is extremely quiet as buses go, I can be sitting at a stoplight and if the radios on I can't tell the engines on except for some vibration in the stick. At Highway speeds I can comfortably listen to the radio without having to turn it up, a first for any of my vehicles. Wind noise while cruising is the loudest thing. This is with the 1.8L Cis-e injected engine. I don't see why the Tiico conversion couldn't be modified for such a setup. The big issue is the exhaust manifold. Thiers looks custom, so I assume you could modify it or go with something like an old Dasher manifold that routed the exhaust towards the flywheel side of the engine.
