Subject: ignition trouble?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

My 85 westy is acting up. Last time we drove it, she ran fine. The next time I wanted to go she wouldn't start. Acting like she weren't firing. I pulled the distributor cap and the rotor and contact electrode (in the distributor cap) were burned up? I put another cap and rotor on but still got nothing. I plan to run through the Bentley troubleshooting drill but wondered if someone has been here before (i.e. my lazy a** wants the easy way out). If something is amiss with hall unit/distributor/idle stabilizer that caused this is there something to prevent it from happening in the future or are the recommended replacement parts that would be better than original or inferior parts to watch out for??? Thanks in advance...

Fetner
