When I lived in NYC up to a few months ago I kept my Westy at my folks house about 40 miles outside the city and only used it sporatically. Maybe once a month often less. Then when summer came I'd go on a two-month trip with the bus. This went on for four years.

I don't think anything bad came out of that, per se. I mean it's 18 years old now and I have had to do repairs obviously, but none I would attribute to the sitting for weeks at a time.

Having said that I think it's better to use the bus a bit and I think once a week is fine. I had the previously mentioned lifter noise after sitting sometimes only for a week--but like the previous post says running the engine for a few minutes got the oil where it needed to be and stopped the noise. Often it would sit for a month or more with no noise from the lifters.

I'm using my bus every day here in LA, and wish I would only have to use it once a week to save on the mileage/maintainance/wear.

Good Luck Jeff 83.5 Westy LA,CA
