I have been reading the debates about closing the list and here's my comment - the problem is mostly with the list members - just a day or so ago I saw a reply to a reply to a reply to a reply to a reply to a reply of an original message (>>>>>>> - count em - SEVEN embedded deep.) I can understand including some of the original message for clarity, but replying to the 100+ line German dude's description of a transmission's inner workings and including the entire message body in your reply just wastes archive space and my time scrolling through the digests to get to the substance. So, in a few words: CLIP ORIGINAL MESSAGES WHEN YOU REPLY!!!
