They do make a special tool for such purposes, but I've never needed it. How far recessed are they? Sometimes if you just turn the engine crank a bit they will roll right out, or pop up so you can grab them with a dry rag for grip. You can also hook a little retainer clip up there and pull LIGHTLY, all else fails, buy the tool. The time to figure out which lifter is making noise is before you pull them out. You use a mechanics listening device, putting it on each lifter bore until you hear it with enuf confidence to replace that one over all the others. You need to replace four now, me thinks. mark... |
