In order to preserve your vans carpeting and prevent spills and dirt from getting into the carpet try this:

Use clear carpet runners in the front of your vanagon and between the captains chairs.

Any hardware store will carry rolls of this stuff. ( about $1.50 a linear foot) less than $ 12 US for the whole job.

Just lay out a template of front floor area onto some cardboard and transfer to the carpet runner. The best way is

to use one large piece of carpet runner that runs from one door to the other. ( of course you cut a hole for the shifter)

And then install a piece between the seats as well. That's it!

I surf quite a bit and wanted to get some floor mats for the van ( 85' Westy). Unfortunately floor mats don't cover all the

areas needed and they can be sort of expensive for what they are.

The clear carpet runners look good and work well for sand, mud and snow. and leave some $ to spend on other things

such as engine parts and hoses.......and your secret stash.
