I knew the carriers were changed for '83 and now I know a little more about how. So, is it because the 4 spd. in the '82 diesel and the 5 spd. in the '83 diesel are different lengths and cause the need of the different position of the rubber mounts along the engine carriers? Are the wasserboxer trannies equal in length to the 5 spd.? Would what I have fit if I had an aircooled gas trans.? Is the moral to get the engine carriers used in the '83 diesel when doing an I-4 install with the wasserboxer trans.? I'll have to look over the situation with the front trans. mount and see if there is a chance of being able to move it forward. If not, rewelding the mounting cages on the carriers sounds workable. Thanks for the input, Mark.
