Subject: Auto to Manual swap
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I am exploring some possibilities and was wondering about if it is possible to put a Manual trans in an Automatic Vanagon. I have an 85 that is Auto, and an 83 Diesel manual. I know I would need to get a gas trans but am wondering about the shift linkage and the clutch. Didn't they switch from cable to Hyd clutches at some point? Could I still make the swap? I really want to keep my Auto, but more than that I want the 2.0L Golf/Jetta motor in it. So if I can not get an adapter, I wanted a back-up plan. Thanks
