Subject: Poll: How are people wiring their high-performance lights?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Dear List,

As I ponder the many ways of wiring my South African Quad headlights with 7" Cibie's (100/55 watt) and 5 1/4" Hella's (100 watt) I thought I'd ask the list: "How are people wiring their high-performance lights?"

As I see it, there are three main ways (with many variations): 1.) two relays, one for highs and one for lows - trigger the relays directly from the headlight switch 2.) three relays, one for lows, one for inner highs, one for outer highs - trigger the relays from either the headlight switch or the existing Vanagon headlight wiring harness 3.) four relays, one each for right/left high and right/left low - trigger the relays directly from the existing Vanagon wiring harness to the headlights

ALSO: what is the proper gauge wiring to such high-performance lights? - 10 gauge? - 12 gauge?

I assume most people remove the existing headlight wiring harness (14 gauge?) and replace it with larger-gauge wiring -- correct?

Thanx in advanced,
