Hi Volks,

Ron Salmon used to sell a very fine hitch system.  I stopped buying hitch
systems after I bought one, so I don't know if he has them right now.

In essence the bumper mounts to channel beams that make up part of the
frame.  The bumpers mount with two bolts on each side.

Further forward in the channel is another set of holes.

The hitch system that I have replaces the metal part of the bumper on an 89
and bolts two both sets of holes, the original bumper set and the ones
farther forward.

Ron's kit includes all the goodies necessary to do the trick and fits very
nicely with a 4 hole mounting plate extending just below the bottom of the
fiberglass bumper cover.

I modified mine to fit a 2" receiver above the 4 hole plate to retain the
plate for mounting a pintle and loop system similar to what one would find
on towed artillery pieces (105mm, 155mm howitzers).  One never knows when a
pintle hitch system will come in handy for prowling the local flea markets
in search of interesting military artifacts.

The real use is to tow a 1/4T mil-spec trailer, like one sees behind jeeps
(real m38s or m141s not those manufactured for consumer use)
