Subject: Engine differences
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

As you know I am working on an engine swap for my 85 Westy. I did some looking around today and found a couple of engines. The ideal engine I have discovered is a 2.0L with Motronic and a 1.8l head. I can not afford this right now, so I am wanting to get an engine in and then work toward this Ideal set-up. So, my question is this. I have a guy that will just about give me a complete running Rabbit with a 1.6l engine in it, and I found a complete 1.8l in a local yard for $200. Can I get this 1.6l engine and swap out the block for a 2.0l and use the 1.6 head and injection? Is the 1.6l head different from the 1.8l? Would this 1.6l be a waist of time? I am tempted due to his only wanting $50 for the whole running car. A 1.6l in a Westy would be way too weak, so I would want to get another short block at least. If you know anything about what will and won't work, please let me know.
