Subject: Trans FAQ Says Big Motor = Dead Trans
Comments: To: Syncro@onelist.com
Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii"

Read that FAQ yourself and decide. He seems to be saying that if you put in a big motor you are dead meat. It is only a matter of time until you blow up the transmission. The posting gets more interesting the further you go down in it, and covers things like the South African transmission modifications to strenthen the transmission etc.

He argues that the 2.1 litre motor is perfectly sized to the syncro trans and if you go up much further at all in power you start to destroy your running gear.

I believe the issue is more dire for syncro than for non-syncro.

I have no comment beyond what was in that FAQ because I really do not know. I think I'd still put in a bigger motor--just would watch how big and how much I stomped on the pedal.
