Ed, Not to panic about a little lube being thrown out. If I remember VW calls for but a little lube even though I tend to put a little more in from time to time. I have replaced only one CV and no boots in 19 years of driving my '82 westy. However I do add lube with a grease gun with a needle type extention and thin plastic tubing slipped over the end of that. Just slip under the small end of the boot and extend the plastic tube in towards the CV. A few squirts and work in by kneading the boot a little. I don't cable tie anything even though ridges on the axles are supposed to keep the boot from working in towards the wheel and rubbing on themselves thus wearing out from the outside in. Mine have not worn out yet even though the ridges do not seem to be doing their jobs. George in Superior, Wisconsin '82 westy bought new and still rolling. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
