Subject: Re: Questions about Gas Heater from 82 Diesel
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

The DA-6 will run on gasoline, I have "converted " 3 over so far-which simply means changing the fuel. Some of the later DA-6 heaters don't have a spark plug, just a glow. This won't work on gas. The heater should be bench tested before installing, and also to burn off the Diesel accumulations-it will smoke heavily for a while on gas. You can suspend it with three foot long tie wrap. It's an involved job, but you can spread it out over time. I can give you some tech help if you need it. When you first turn the switch on, the heater ECU heats the glow plug-you will hear a small click. After a few seconds, the blowers will activate-combustion should be almost immediate if you plan on using the heater for hours at a time while parked, the biggest Deep cycle battery you can afford will keep it going. They really weren't designed for camping, however, and draw about 10 amps, using up to 1 pint of fuel per hour. Heat out put is good, around 20,000 Btu.
