Someone posted one time about taking it apart and filing a cross hatch pattern onto the ball and socket pieces. I did that to my brand new one and it worked. On my older mirror it didn't work as well. I ended up using 2 part epoxy on that one. I'm the only one that drives the van, so the mirrors are permenantly adjusted for me. : )

When I went to practice on my old one at first, the nut on the spring snapped right off. You may run into that problem.
