We had good luck cleaning ours with the hot water/steam type cleaner but the secret is to vacuum, vacuum, vacuum very thoroughly first. The dirt goes deep and it will make mud if you don't get the loose stuff out first. If you can find and of that new Oxy-Brite or Oxy-Clean like they advertise on TV, also sold in BJs and Cosco I think, add a little to your detergent mixture. This stuff really works! You will want to vacuum it again when it is thoroughly dry to remove the detergent residue because that will make new dirt cling. It may take several treatments but it's worth it.
