Just to let everyone know, the part I needed was an eyebolt (027-260-937) and cost $18.36 plus tax at the local VW dealer. It's basically a bolt with a large head with a tapped hole drilled across it. It took about 2 minutes to install in the parking lot. Thanks to all who offered advise and parts. I was cleaning the motor today and found that the belt tension adjustment bolt for the compressor wasn't attached to anything, just hanging loosely in the bracket. Does anyone have a spare or know can tell me how the adjustment system looks so I can make one? I assume it would be an "L" bracket with a nut welded on each flat. The holes would need to be offset to keep the adjusting bolt from hitting the hold-down bolt on the rear of the bracket. |
