Subject: home engine repair happenings: first "trip" and digijet fun
              (questions)
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Well, yesterday, I put about 20 miles on the new machine. We took it to a restaurant in the town about 8 miles away. (after a morning of running at 200rpm, and short drives).... I only ran her at about 50 mph, with unitentional spurts up to 58mph. When we rolled into town and pulled into the parking lot, the oil light came on.....very unappealing, but Ok I guess. I'm running 15-30 oil, the engine is still breaking in (so it's naturally hotter) and....well, I guess that's enough. On the trip home, I slowed down very easy and the light didn't light up until I manuevered it to put it back into the garage. The pressure is at about 25-30 psi while running at 50-55mph, but when idling through town at 25-30, it can be in the 10-fifteen zone. I wish it was higher, but once again, the oil is hot and thinner than I'm used to. I'm clinging to thse facts as my only lifeline, since this symptom was the reason for doing the job in the first place!

The real bug to work out right now is my engine stutter at 1200-1500 (?) rpm. This ailment, I naivily though would go away under a load, but ,instead, speeds up at wrecks havoc with my CV joints. NOW--I've started to educate myself on the digijet system (fun--not) and I realized that green "box" on the wall of my engine compartment is the idle stabilizer box. It hasn't ever been connected to anything. I thought the 2.1 conversion made it obsolete.... Well, I guess it's been by-passed. Is that okay?

I was going to reconnect it to see what happens, but I'll wait for advice from the experts. Like I said, this ailment is only when the engine is in the 1100-1400 (high idle) zone. I'm really guestimating here since I haven't any instruments.

Other than that.... I have a small AT leak from the AT cooler/front area. (couple drops over 12 hours), and maybe a waterpump area coolant leak--not consistant yet.

More to come...... Brian Cochran
