Subject: Power door locks, anyone?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I'm fighting the power door locks again. I'm wondering if anyone has had much experience in debugging these gadgets...

I've taken apart and cleaned up both driver and passenger motor assemblies, and I'm getting some "interesting" behavior out of them now. The passenger side motor works as expected, unless I plug in the drivers side motor. Then, unlocking the drivers door causes nothing to happen in the other doors, and the drivers door immediately re-locks itself.

If I have the passenger door unlocked, I can unlock the drivers door. When I lock the drivers door, it locks the passengers door, and I'm back to the situation above.

I tried swapping the driver and passenger motors, but the symptoms remain the same. Problem in wiring? Or maybe the side or rear door motors are inter-acting? (the rear lid motor appears to be OK, the side door motor is dead and I've not had time to rebuild that one.

I hate the thought of forking over good money for new motors when (a) these seem to be OK after some cleanup, and (b) it might not fix the problem. Bentley is all but silent on the central locking system...

Thanks in advance.
