Sudhir,

You are a sick guy. I would LOVE to see it come together if you ever pull it off. I thought about doing the same thing with my former 928's engine. Thankfully, someone saved me by buying the car.

I'll tell you, as a former 928 owner, the maintenance will kill your wallet. Just take a look at the length of the timing belt as it snakes around those cams. I broke one of these before while leisurely cruising at 130mph+ on the San Bernardino Freeway close to rush hour. The reason I got back into VW's was because I got sick and tired of paying Porsche prices for parts. The only truly good repair manual for the 928 is made by Porsche. Can you spell "big money"? It's spelled P-O-R-S-C-H-E. The manual cost about $300 -- nine volumes and very comprehensive though. Believe when I say you will need it. The water pump cost $380 new at the time. Rebuilt is about $150. Then belt was about $80.

The 928 engine is a wonderful machine. I had the high compression Euro spec 16-valve motor. I had driven this thing at over 140 mph with a passenger and an IKEA dresser in the rear. Smooth as silk. Now if only they could use Chevy water pumps........

PS: 3.4? You must have an American six in there now, right?
