Hello folks...
I am still out there with both eyes peeled for my next vanagon...
Im migrating from a Toyota 4X4 and have really enjoyed the security of the
extra traction sometimes, especially now that I am living in the Seattle
area, I love to go exploring on dirt roads in the mountains... Not any
kinda serious 4 wheeling really, not crawling over boulders etc, just
through a little mud and snow.

For the amount of money that I think that I can get for the toyota I could
consider a synchro... But Im wondering if I should bother...
I get the gut feeling that VW didnt have a whole lot of experience doing
4WD and that there might be some weaknesses, but I dont hear much about
weaknesses on this list or anywhere else.

Im no dot-commer, so I dont have buckets of money to keep up my prospective
van, which makes me think that I should stick with my usual automobile
asthetic of "the simpler the better".

What do you folks think?
Am I looking at expensive problems with a synchro, or are drivetrains
comperable in reliabilty to a 2WD?
