Speaking of suspension work, that's not too bad for the do-it-yourselfer either. The Haynes manual has some good instructions on ball joints, steering tie-rods, radius rods, etc. Also Tom Carrington's excellent how-to instructions on suspension part replacements, wheel bearings, etc., accessible via the Vanagon.com page, I believe. Ball joints, tie rod ends, rubber bushings, wheel bearings are all reasonable in price and readily available from the various list vendors.
