A light cut is all that is needed. The problem is finding a shop which will do the job right. the last time I had a flywheel surfaced, the shop owner was bragging about his new state-of-the-art flywheel grinder. When I indicated it, there was about .0015 " axial runout. That was a flywheel which suffered from surfacing because it had to be done twice. Also, I was always told that if the flywheel is blued from overheating, it should be surfaced. Rich |
