Hi Chad, I'm not an expert... but I would check compression on all four.... Sounds like it could be anything from blow by (weak rings ... to... burnt piston) to the infamous Digi-wife filling up the tank by taking the little black cap off the tube behind the license plate.... (no, it didn't happen to me, mine is calibrated). Another thing to look at if you think you are getting dilution is to change oil. Take used oil and pour a small quantity on a smooth flat surface and the same time you pour a little new oil. Keep them separate and about the same small quantity. If the used oil spreads out fast like water it is being diluted by fuel. Good luck Jere -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Chad Sent: Friday, March 16, 2001 1:08 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Oil Smells like gas?????
